MBA Co-op Program
To meet employers’ need for talent, DeGroote carefully selects our co-op students through a behaviour-based interview as part of admissions-a unique process to DeGroote that highlights potential. The MBA Co-op Program combines four academic terms with three four-month work terms throughout the program.

Master of Biomedical Discovery & Commercialization
The Master of Biomedical Discovery and Commercialization Program is a one-year, course-based master’s that offers advanced training in the biomedical sciences complemented by fundamental business training using experiential, inquiry and team-based learning. Students have extensive independent discovery research experience as well as fundamental business consultation and entrepreneurial experience in the health sciences start-up sector. During the winter and spring terms, students typically seek internship placements in the health sciences, pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries. Students are available for flexible four-month (January-April or May-August) and eight-month (January-August) placements with the possibility of extending the length of the internship beyond the formal end date of the program.

Students registered in the Faculty of Humanities have the option of pursuing a non-credit internship (full-time or part-time) which results in an official transcript notation.
Students in the Faculty of Humanities develop a breadth of essential and transferable skills through their academic work and co-curricular activities. In addition to gaining a knowledge base in their chosen subject area, Humanities students develop strong competencies in the following foundational skill areas:

Social Sciences Co-op
McMaster has three undergraduate (3) co-op program options in the Social Sciences:

In addition, there are graduate-level programs in Economics and in the Master of Public Policy in a Digital Society (MPP) program.
Social Sciences students have diverse skill sets and seek employment opportunities across the public sector, private sector, and not-for-profit sector.
Details on 4-month co-op work terms are outlined below. Social Sciences co-op programs are eligible for the Ontario Co-operative Education tax credit and are registered on the Public Service Commission’s list of approved programs for public sector co-op hiring.
In addition, Social Sciences students in any program are eligible to complete elective internships of varying length (4-month, 8-month, 12-month, 16-month). Additional programs eligible for these kinds of positions include: Anthropology, Environment & Society, Health Aging & Society, Indigenous Studies, Psychology, Society Culture & Religion, Social Psychology, Social Work, and Sociology.

MSc eHealth
Built on the strength of McMaster University’s experiential learning platform, the MSc eHealth degree is truly interdisciplinary. The program is based on a partnership among the following 3 faculties and their respective departments:
- Faculty of Health Sciences (Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics Department)
- Faculty of Engineering (Computer and Software Department)
- DeGroote School of Business (Information Systems Department)
The MSc eHealth Internship Program combines three or four academic terms with an eight month internship commencing in May and ending in December. eHealth students are ideally suited for special project assignments, and can also handle ongoing operational responsibilities as needed.

Integrated Biomedical Engineering & Health Sciences
This new program is the first in Canada to offer a truly interdisciplinary 5-year biomedical program that integrates Engineering with Health Sciences. It is also the only Health Sciences program in health, engineering science and entrepreneurship. After students’ 1st year, they will pursue more specialized courses of study in either the Bachelor of Engineering and Biomedical Engineering (B.Eng. BME.) degree or the Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences in Health, Engineering Science and Entrepreneurship (B.H.Sc. HESE) degree. Students enrolled in either stream of the iBioMed program are eligible to pursue co-op positions. Co-op placements are flexible and can be taken up at any time.

Integrated Business and Humanities (IBH)
The IBH program is an undergraduate interdisciplinary program that provides a background in Humanities for students to develop the skills and knowledge to recognize, understand and constructively engage with complex social needs and diverse perspectives. Through their background in Business, students will develop a way to solve those problems. This program officially launched in 2017.
Commerce and Integrated Business and Humanities (IBH) students seeking 12-16 month positions who have completed their 3rd year of studies, have a minimum 7.0 GPA and have completed the Business Career Course. Commerce and IBH students seek positions starting May to September.
Overview
Work-Integrated Learning Employer Guidelines provide guidance on employer ethics and procedures for engaging in a recruiting partnership with McMaster University. Work-Integrated Learning is a model and process of curricular experiential education which formally and intentionally integrates a student’s academic studies within a workplace or practice setting. WIL experiences include an engaged partnership of at least: an academic institution, a host organization, and a student. WIL can occur at the course or program level and includes the development of learning outcomes related to employability, personal agency, and life-long
learning.
